Carson City's Johnny Rockets to close after 14 years serving burgers and shakes at bowling alley

Posted

Johnny Rockets first opened in its location September 2009, the first business in the then newly expanded and refurbished Carson Lanes bowling alley.

Despite opening amidst the recession, and the bowling alley changing hands, the restaurant has been a steady anchor — until now.

Owner Tamara Chavez posted a sign in the business stating:

Dear Valued Guests,

With a heavy heart I have to announce under unforeseen circumstances we will be closing down December 16. We want to thank you for your patronage and loyalty to our beloved Johnny Rockets.

Please share with your family and friends to come have their favorite burger and shake.

Thank you for your loyalty and commitment to Johnny Rockets.

Warm regards,

Tamara Chavez and Crew

At this time, it is not known why the restaurant is closing down.

The facility was recently sold and became Homegrown Bowl, Bar, Grill and Billiards, which includes its own grill restaurant along with a snack bar.

Last week, Buffalo Wild Wings announced its closure as well as Carson City’s Arnulfo’s Mexican food on South Carson Street and Francisco's Mexican Restaurant at the Carson Mall.
