A knife-wielding man who allegedly stabbed a woman was shot during a confrontation with police Wednesday, the Long Beach Police Department said.
Officers responded to a stabbing call in the 300 block of 69th Way shortly before 9 a.m., the LBPD said.
When police arrived, they confronted a man holding a knife inside a residence. When the man refused to drop the knife, officers opened fire.
Police said the man had stabbed a woman he knew prior to the officers’ arrival. Her injuries were described as non-life threatening.
The man and woman were taken to the hospital. No officers were injured.
Homicide detectives were investigating the incident.
